Black Honey

Indie-rock quartet Black Honey formed in Brighton, England in 2014 after lead singer and guitarist Izzy Baxter Phillips crossed paths with guitarist Chris Ostler at university. Following a few personnel changes, they settled on the lineup of bassist Tommy Taylor and drummer Tom Dewhurst and released demo single "Sleep Forever" / "Teenager" in 2014 with "Spinning Wheel" / "Madonna" following in 2015. They began honing their sound across a string of subsequent singles before dropping their self-titled debut album in September 2018. The video for album single "Midnight" was nominated at the Berlin Music Video Awards 2019 while that year drummer Alex Woodward joined the group to replace Tom Dewhurst. Black Honey's second album Written & Directed arrived in March 2021 and went to number seven on the UK Albums Chart, also reaching the summit of the UK independent chart and going to number three in Scotland. A cache of new singles followed, including "Charlie Bronson," "Out of My Mind," and "Heavy," with the band's third album A Fistful of Peaches emerging in 2023.
