Mabes, an English singer/songwriter from Essex, first picked up the guitar aged 15 and began playing at venues in her hometown of Billericay. Like her hero Laura Marling, her music is filled with relatable lyrics and gorgeous melodies.
Mabes released her debut album of stripped back acoustics Wait & See in 2019, which in 12 months has been streamed over 25 million times. From the reflective teenage angst of Bigger Picture to the beautiful, metaphorical America, Mabes shows us she was put on this Earth for one thing: to write songs.
Mabes’ new EP Keeping The Noise Down, is a sonic shift, although embodies the acoustic-country aesthetic that runs deep in her musical roots. Covering social anxieties, love and the tribulations of social media, Mabes is an old soul in a next generation artist, with the ability to craft heart-rending pop and relatable lyrics throughout.
