Trumpeter, composer, arranger and singer, Pedro Paulo Junior began his career in 1999 when he helped found the Itiberê Orquestra Família led by Itiberê Zwarg. He recorded two albums with IOF – Pedra do Espia (2001) and Calendário do Som (2005). He launched the latter in several capitals of Brazil, in Montevideo-Uruguay and in Buenos Aires-Argentina. He performs at night in Rio de Janeiro playing in gafieiras with the band Samba Plugado and the salsa group Rio Latin Jazz. In 2012 he released a CD with the wind group Inventos alongside fellow graduates of the Itiberê Orquestra Família. With liner notes written by Egberto Gismonti, Pedro Paulo composed and arranged two pieces for the CD – “Encontro das Águas” and “Dr Cornelius”. He performed in Cariri-CE and Bogotá-Colombia. In 2018 he released the album “Fanfarrada – Tradições Vanguardistas”, with three of his compositions – “Coração Black”, “Gargalhada do Gaiato” and “Yo no era eu”. Also in 2018, he integrates the big band of composer and arranger Gaia Wilmer in the Egberto 70 project, a tribute to the musician's 70th birthday. In this project he played alongside Egberto himself, Yamandú Costa, Jaques Morelenbaum, André Mehmari, Mauro Senise, Gabriel Grossi and Ricardo Herz. In 2022 he releases his first authorial work in partnership with the poet and composer Arthus Fochi, the album Massambará.
