This story begins in the freezing cold of Northern Canada, as ten-year-old homeschooled Elena decides she will be a pop star. She doesn’t know how yet, but she knows she will.
Classical piano took up most her time, as she was never allowed to listen to radio or popular music, due to her parents strict religious regulations. However, once a week on Wednesdays she went into town and walked through the supermarket and got to listen to POP MUSIC – which felt like exciting bright sparks of something from another planet. She wanted to feel that way all the time.
After writing hundreds of songs, she eventually wrote her way into
Berklee College of Music in Boston, and then New York City. Her songwriting was originally for “real artists” ‘cause she didn’t think of herself as a singer. One dark and stormy night in a New York Studio, all the singers had gone home and the producers asked her to sing the vocals on the track. Which they kept. And that began the next part of her journey.
Elena has a thing for clever innuendo, turning tragedies into catchy hooks, and the way that songs can tear you apart then piece you back together. After releasing multiple singles, she found her voice in two projects – an EP titled “Models Have Feelings” and an album expected for 2021 titled “Holy Tender Artist”
Elena currently resides in London and can be found writing songs in her bedroom, running marathons, and creating her own world instead of finding her place in the current one.
