Drivin' N Cryin, an American Southern rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, was formed in 1985 by Kevn Kinney and Frank French. Their debut album, Scarred But Smarter, was released in October 1986 through independent label 688 Records. The band signed with Island Records in 1987 and released their first major-label album, Whisper Tames the Lion the following year, reaching the Billboard 200. Subsequent albums include Mystery Road (1989), featuring songs like "Straight to Hell" and "Honeysuckle Blue"; Fly Me Courageous, released in 1991, which became certified gold; and Smoke (1993). Drivin' N Cryin toured extensively with artists such as Neil Young and Soul Asylum. The band moved away from their original sound and transitioned to Geffen Records, releasing Wrapped in Sky in 1995, as well as a self-titled album two years later. Four-song EP, Detroit City Rock emerged in 2001 and 6 years later was followed by The Great American Bubble Factory (2007). The band were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2015, which they commemorated with Live the Love Beautiful , released shortly after.
