Despite hailing from suburban Surrey and starting out as a pop songwriter, Lucie Silvas really found her voice later in her career when she landed in Nashville and immersed herself in country and Americana traditions. Raised in both South London and New Zealand, Silvas grew up singing along to her parents' Motown records and started playing piano at the age of seven, writing her own songs soon afterwards. She got her start playing in wedding bands and as a backing singer for Judi Tzuke, and although her first EP 'Forget Me Not' failed to take off, she returned in 2004 with her debut solo album 'Breathe In' which reached number eleven in the UK Albums Chart and featured her top ten hit 'What You're Made Of' co-written with Tzuke.
She also toured and co-wrote tracks with Gary Barlow and penned songs for Liberty X, Will Young and The Saturdays as she became known for her classy, emotional pop ballads and a trusted, versatile songwriter within the industry. Following her love of Dolly Parton and Merle Haggard, she made it to Nashville in 2009 and after supporting Jamiroquai on tour and writing tracks for TV musical 'Smash', she married John Osborne from country-rock duo Brothers Osborne and marked her change of style with her rootsy, acoustic third album 'Letters to Ghosts' and performances at the Grand Ole Opry in 2015. Combining her pop and country influences with a natural kinship for soul-bearing showstoppers like Aretha Franklin and Etta James, she returned again in 2018 with the single 'Kite' while new album 'E.G.O.' was regarded as her most eclectic sounding and fist-pumpingly positive of her career.
