Born in Geneva on May 13, 1975, Swiss harmonica player Grégoire Maret discovered the instrument at the age of seventeen, and went on to study music at the Conservatoire Supérieur National, then at the New School in New York. A session musician, he took part in numerous recordings with Jim Scott, David Sanborn, Steve Coleman, Cassandra Wilson, Charlie Hunter, George Benson, Bebel Gilberto, Bernard Lavilliers and Marcus Miller. He forges an ongoing association and several albums with Jacky Terrasson, Jeff "Tain" Watts and Meshell Ndegeocello. In 2005, he joined the Pat Metheny Group for the album The Way Up, and collaborated with Canadian pianist Andy Milne on the duo album Scenarios (2007). In 2012, he released his first untitled solo album on the eOne label, followed four years later by Wanted (2016), on Sunnyside Records. He is joined by a host of well-known guest artists. Always in demand by new international artists such as Kurt Elling, Scott Colley, Teri Lynne Carrington and Richard Bona, Grégoire Maret takes part in Pat Metheny's album From This Place, and records his third album Americana the same year, with Romain Collin and Bill Frisell.
