Hailing from Oakland, California, Somethin’ for the People was an American contemporary R&B group that enjoyed moderate success in the late 90s. Throughout their career, they’ve not only managed to put several of their songs in the charts but they’ve also penned tracks for Adina Howard, Brandy, and Will Smith. Formed in 1990, the trio composed of Curtis "Sauce" Wilson, Jeff "Fuzzy" Young, and Rochad "Cat Daddy" Holiday recorded a demo that caught the attention of Capitol Records, who released their eponymous studio debut in 1993. Propelled by the singles “You Want This Party Started” and “With You”, the album quickly blew up, receiving heavy airplay and peaking at Number 66 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. They followed up with This Time It’s Personal (1997), whose lead single “My Love Is the Shhh!” reached Number 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Despite their ever-growing popularity, the commercial failure of Issues (2000) precipitated the group’s breakup shortly after the release of the album.
