During his 20-year career, the Brazilian singer and composer Luiz Gonzaga do Nascimento Jr. etched himself into the hearts of Brazilian music fans by writing a plethora of well known MPB standards including 'Sangrando', 'Mulher, e Daí' and 'Começaria Tudo Outra Vez'. His songs were recorded by some of the biggest names in Brazilian popular music and household names such as Fagner, Simone, Maria Bethânia and Joanna all enjoyed hits with material written by Nascimento. During his career Nascimento was known by the name Gonzaguinha meaning Little Gonzaga. He was the namesake of his father, the famous Brazilian musician known as the King of Baião who went by the name of Big Gonzaga. His father built a reputation as a formidable baião artist and his son carried on the family tradition, soon becoming a respected samba and bossa nova player. After recording more than 20 albums and writing numerous hits for other artists Nascimento was killed in a car accident in 1991 at the age of 45.
