British non-binary artist Zander Sweeney's stage name is Zand (stylized in capital letters). Hailing from Blackpool in Lancashire, it was under the name Seafoal that the single "Van Gogh" was released in 2016 , followed in 2017 by "Chess" and "Friends". The same year sees the release of debut EP Xeraclius, already demonstrating his provocative, alternative electro-pop style. In 2018, the "ugly pop" concept is developed on Zand's first signature tracks, namely "Boys Like U" or "Luci". The term that defines his music serves as the title of the Ugly Pop EP (2020), which pushes the boundaries of the genre with tracks like "Slut Money", "Bald Bitch" and "Freak". Singing, composing and producing, Zand attracts millions of listens on platforms and the attention of cutting-edge magazines. After the single "Religion" in 2021, produced with Shurk, "Confession" with Kent Osborne, "Battery Acid" and "Kill All Predators" with Banshee follow in 2022. An electrifying and stimulating performer, Zand has already toured with Peaches, Scene Queen, Bob Vylan, Witch Fever and Vukovi, and headlined the 2KTrees festival. The electro-industrial turn of recent tracks is confirmed on the Sewerstar EP (2023), from which "DTF " and "Deliverance" are taken.
