Biography

An ace behind the decks and a whiz in the production studio, DJ and producer Sonny Fodera has made a name for himself as one of Australia's top purveyors of soulful, sunshine-drenched house. The dance music mainstay began cooking up hip-hop beats as a teenager before discovering Chicago house legend Derrick Carter and realizing his true calling. After honing his skills as an international DJ, picking up gigs all over the world, 2013 saw the release of Sonny Fodera's first EP, It's Time. A string of party-starting club music followed in its wake, including a full-length debut, Moving Forward, that same year, and 2016's poppier-sounding Frequently Flying. 2019 was a landmark year for the Adelaide-raised artist who released his fourth studio album, the mixtape-friendly Rise, via his own Solotoko imprint, as well as a killer remix of Calvin Harris's "Promises" (with Sam Smith) that caught fire online. His 2020 single with UK artist Ella Eyre unbottled the essence of Sonny Fodera's feel-good dancefloor energy and in 2021, he teamed up again with singer and songwriter Lily Ahlberg (following her appearance on bass-ridden Rise track "The Moment") for single "Closer."
