WC and the Maad Circle was an American hip-hop group originating from Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 1990 by rapper WC, with "MAAD" standing for Minority Alliance of Anti-Discrimination. Following the dissolution of Low Profile, a previous group featuring WC, he established the Maad Circle and released their debut album Ain't a Damn Thang Changed on September 17, 1991. The album achieved chart success, marking a significant breakthrough in their career. The group's second album, Curb Servin', was released in October, 1995, and reached number 85 on the Billboard 200. Notable songs from this period include "Dress Code", which became one of their signature tracks, "West Up!" featuring Mack 10 and Ice Cube, and "The One". The group collaborated with DJ Crazy Toones, producer Sir Jinx, who was known for his work with Ice-T, and rapper Coolio. However, due to the increasing solo careers of Sir Jinx and Coolio, WC and the Maad Circle disbanded in 1996. Following the split, WC formed Westside Connection with Ice Cube and Mack 10, continuing his influential presence in West Coast rap. WC and his brother Crazy Toones also continued their collaboration at Lench Mob Records, the label founded by Ice Cube. The Maad Circle's impact on West Coast hip-hop is evident through their charting albums and notable singles, which remain influential in the genre.
