Ashes Remain is a Christian rock band from Baltimore, Maryland. The group was formed in 2001 by lead singer Josh Smith and rhythm guitarist Ryan Nalepa. The pair performed as a duo for a while before recruiting lead guitarist Rob Tahan, bassist Ben Ogden, and drummer Ben Kirk. They independently released their debut album Lose the Alibis in 2003, followed by a second full-length titled Last Day Breathing in 2007. In 2004, Ben Ogden decided to leave the group and was replaced by Jon Hively. Following the release of the Red Devotion EP in 2009, Ashes Remains signed with Fair Trade Services and made their major-label debut with 2011's What I've Become. Driven by the chart-topping single "Keep Me Breathing," as well as by the Top 10 entries "Come Alive," "End of Me," and "On My Own," What I've Become helped the band reach a wider audience and peaked at Number 25 on the US Christian charts. In the subsequent years, Ashes Remains continued to deliver powerful rock anthems with an uplifting message on releases like Christmas EP (2012) and Let the Light In (2017).
