Crucifix

Crucifix was an American hardcore punk band from the San Francisco Bay Area, active from 1980 to 1984. Fronted by Cambodian-born vocalist Sothira Pheng, the band initially formed with members Christopher Douglas and Matt Borruso. Their debut release was the five-song EP Crucifix in 1981 on Universal Records. The following year saw the release of their second EP, "Nineteen Eighty-Four", on Freak Records. In 1983, they released their landmark album Dehumanization on Corpus Christi Records, which is widely regarded as a cornerstone of American political punk music. After extensive touring across the United States, Canada, and Europe, Crucifix disbanded in July 1984. The compilation album, Exhibit A, was later released in 1997 on Kustomized Records, and their song “Annihilation” was later covered by Sepultura in 2001 and A Perfect Circle in 2004.
