Laura Shigihara, born April 16 in the United States, is a Japanese‑American singer‑songwriter, composer, and video‑game developer whose career blends pop music with interactive media. After eleven years of classical piano training and self‑taught guitar and drums, she learned digital audio workstations at the University of California, Berkeley, and began producing music for small games such as Wobbly Bobbly. In 2010 she composed the soundtrack for Plants vs. Zombies, a milestone that established her as a prominent game composer; the album Plants vs. Zombies (2010) was later reissued in 2013. In 2011 she released the single "Cube Land", which connected her to the Minecraft community. She continued to contribute to high‑profile titles, arranging "Don't Forget" for Deltarune (2018) and collaborating with Yasunori Mitsuda on the album Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross 20th Anniversary Album (2015). She released the indie RPG Rakuen (2017) and Mr. Saitou (2023), both of which showcased her dual role as developer and composer.
