Born on 23 August 1989 in the Japanese city of Hamamatsu, electronic producer and DJ TeddyLoid—also known as Teddy Sakakibara and 榊原良—began showcasing his remix skills on MySpace in the mid-naughties before landing a gig as a background DJ for finger-slapping guitarist Miyavi that helped to immerse him in the international music world. After forming a creative partnership with Taku Takahashi, the pair collaborated on the iconic anime series Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, where TeddyLoid saw his career skyrocket as his music became synonymous with the show's unique aesthetic. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt The Original Soundtrack hit number 10 on Japan's Oricon Albums Chart with its follow-up, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt The Worst Album, making it to number 24. He released his first solo album, Black Moon Rising, three years later and in 2016 experienced his first taste of solo chart success with the single "Pipo Password" (featuring Bonjour Suzuki), which was created as the ending theme of Space Patrol Lucco. That same year, he made his first US live appearance in Wisconsin. The latter half of the 2010s were defined by his collaborations with YouTuber Kizuna AI and Giga in 2021. In 2024, he released his first solo single in eight years, "Gimme Dat" on Tokyo Machine's label CHOMPO.
