Originally from Mons, Eliot will represent Belgium at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel (semi-finals on 14 and 16 May, final on 18 May). He will sing Wake Up, a song written by Pierre Dumoulin, who was behind City Lights, a wonderful, melancholic pop ballad sung by Blanche that won Belgium fourth place at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.
Eliot was discovered under his real name (Eliot Vassamillet) in Season 7 of The Voice Belgique. After his first live show, the young man was contacted by Pierre Dumoulin who was seduced by Eliot’s voice and presence.
“Pierre invited me to his home in Liège. I told him about my background and my hopes. Having been given my first guitar aged seven and with two years of music theory, my passion is for English pop and melancholic songs. Pierre made me listen to a demo of what Wake Up would become and I loved it straight away. We talked about the song’s themes together. Wake Up is a call to young people to be active and rally together for a better world. We want to send that positive message of Friendship and open-mindedness.”
After The Voice adventure, Eliot gave several concerts in Belgium. At the age of 18 Eliot is currently finishing his secondary schooling at the Collège Saint-Stanislas in Mons.
