Faster Pussycat

American hard rock band Faster Pussycat, originating from Los Angeles, California, was formed in 1985 by Taime Downe during the peak of glam metal and glam punk. The group's initial lineup included Downe, Greg Steele, and Brent Muscat, with the name inspired by Russ Meyer's film Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! After several lineup changes, Faster Pussycat released their self-titled debut album in July 1987 through Elektra Records. The album featured notable songs like "Bathroom Wall" and "Don't Change That Song", which gained traction through promotional videos and appearances in The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years. In November 1987, the band appeared on the cover of Screamer Magazine and embarked on tours with Alice Cooper, David Lee Roth, and Motörhead. Their second album, Wake Me When It's Over, was released in August 1989 and certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), driven by hits like "House of Pain" and "Poison Ivy". The band continued with Whipped in February 1992, reaching number 90 on the U.S. charts. However, internal conflicts led to a hiatus in 1993. Faster Pussycat reunited in 2001 but faced legal disputes over the band's name, resulting in two separate versions of the group. Despite these challenges, they continued touring and releasing music.
