Fezile 'Feya' Faku was born on June 6, 1962, in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and was a South African jazz trumpeter. He initially played flute and saxophone before focusing on trumpet under Christopher Columbus Ngcukana's guidance. In 1986, he joined Victor Ntoni's big band. Faku studied at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, earning a Performers Diploma in the early 1990s. He released his debut album Hommage in 1999 and collaborated with notable artists such as Abdullah Ibrahim and Oliver Mtukudzi. His notable albums include The Colours They Bring, Hope and Honour, and Le Ngoma. Faku passed away on June 23, 2025, in Basel, Switzerland.
