The Italian singer Irene Grandi rose to prominence in the mid-1990s when her second album 'In vacanza da una vita' was released in 1995 and produced hits such as 'Bum Bum', 'Dolcissimo amore' as well as the album's title track.
A string of successful albums followed and the singer was rarely out of the Italian charts for almost a decade. Capitalising on her singing success she accepted two acting roles, the first as the character Angel in the 1996 film 'Il barbiere di Rio' and then as Giulia in 'L'apetta Giulia' in 2003.
Grandi was born in Florence in 1969 and during her career has had numerous top ten albums and singles selling over five million records in the process. Since making her debut at the San Remo song festival in 1994 she has appeared there on five occasions with her most successful performance being in 2000 when she came second with a song she co-wrote with the popular Italian singer Vasco Rossi.
Her most recent album was 'Un vento senza nome' which she released in 2015.
