The Suffers

The Suffers, an American soul, funk, and R&B group from Houston, Texas, were formed in 2011 by Adam Castaneda and Pat Kelly. Initially a reggae cover band, they evolved into a unique blend of musical styles, defining their sound as Gulf Coast Soul. The Suffers released their debut EP, Slow It Down, in 2013, followed by their self-titled full-length album in 2016, featuring notable songs like "Peanuts" and "Midtown". The band gained significant recognition with appearances on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and performances at major events like South by Southwest. They also received critical acclaim, including being listed as one of "Top 10 Anticipated Rock & Alternative Albums" by Billboard in December 2015 and winning 11 Houston Press Music Awards in 2015.
