Hiroshima is an American band formed in 1974 that blends jazz, R&B, pop, and traditional Japanese music, incorporating instruments such as the koto and shakuhachi. Founded by multi-instrumentalist Dan Kuramoto, who sought to create a band representing Asian American identity, the group was named after the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Their self-titled debut album sold more than 100,000 copies in its first three months, while their second album earned a Grammy nomination for the instrumental "Winds of Change." The albums Another Place (1985) and Go (1987) achieved gold certification, and Legacy received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Instrumental Album in 2010. Hiroshima has sold over four million albums worldwide and has performed internationally since its formation.
