Rachel Alexandra Mercaldo, known professionally as Rockell, was born on March 4, 1977, in Staten Island, New York. She is an American singer specializing in electronic music and Hi-NRG. In 1996, Rockell released her debut single "I Fell in Love", which marked the beginning of her career. The following year, she achieved significant success with the hit single "In a Dream". Both tracks appeared on her 1998 debut album What Are You Lookin' At?, which also included notable songs like "When I'm Gone" and "Can't We Try", a duet with Collage. In 2000, Rockell released her second album, Instant Pleasure, featuring the single "What U Did 2 Me". Throughout her career, Rockell has collaborated with various artists and producers, including DJ Mickey Bono and Joe Zangie. Her notable singles include "L.O.V.E" (2005), "Playin' My Love" (2007), and "When I Want You Back" (2009).
