Marion Meadows

Marion Meadows is a saxophone player and composer who has released more than a dozen jazz albums and performed as a side man with many top artists since the 1980s. Born in West Virginia, he spent his youth in Stamford, Connecticut, where he studied classical music until he discovered jazz recordings by stars such as John Coltrane, Sonny Stitt and Coleman Hawkins. After studying at the Berklee College of Music, he began to write songs of his own, and when Norman Connors recorded one of his pieces, he joined the drummer's band.

A chance meeting with television composer Jay Chattaway, who scored the four 'Star Trek' TV series, led to introductions to players such as drummer Bob James and his career began to blossom. He played in concerts and on records with performers such as Brook Benton, Eartha Kitt, the Temptations and Michael Bolton and he spent some time with a modern jazz outfit called the Aboriginal Music Society.

Meadows made his solo recording debut on 'For Lovers Only' in 1990 and produced a series of albums over the next 20 years including the highly praised 'Keep It Right There', 'In Deep' (2002) and 'Dressed to Chill' (2006), with 2015's 'Soul Traveler' reaching number five on Billboard's Jazz Albums Chart.
