A native of Orléans, where he was born on April 14, 1998, Johnny Jane (his pseudonym is a reference to Serge Gainsbourg's "La Ballade de Johnny Jane" ) began his musical apprenticeship on the piano, then entered the Conservatoire, which he left in ninth grade to take up rock. He went on to learn guitar and drums. From the age of 18, he went on to study at the Beaux-Arts in Brussels. At just 20, he produced his first EP, Au Pire C'Est Rien . This first attempt marked out his musical formula: French pop with a hint of electro, over which he lays a falsely nonchalant voice inspired by Julian Casablancas (The Strokes). He settled in Paris and, in 2021, began releasing tracks online that gained wide exposure: "Maintenant " and "Dans mes rêves" . The following year, Johnny Jane releases "Hier soir" and "Kleenex ", which maintain the image of his party-loving, melancholy and sensitive persona. In 2023, he released two singles, "À l'Américaine" and "Deux ". This was followed by a new track in 2024, "Attitude" , and the album Attitude(s ) (No. 164 in France), which he promoted that year. The latter is adorned with a cover showing him masked in front of a blue background deliberately reminiscent of Serge Gainsbourg's Melody Nelson visual.
