Vansire, the American dream pop duo formed by Josh Augustin and Sam Winemiller in Rochester, Minnesota, began as high‑school collaborators in the school drumline and concert band. Their first breakthrough came with the self‑released album Reflections and Reveries (2016), recorded in Winemiller’s basement over a year, which established their lo‑fi, bedroom pop aesthetic. In 2017 they followed with the EP The Rolling, Driftless North and singles such as "Brown Study" and "Halcyon Age". Signing to Spirit Goth Records in 2018, Vansire released the full‑length Angel Youth, featuring early collaborations and a shift toward a more dance‑oriented sound. The duo continued to release singles like "Nice to See You" and "That I Miss You" in 2018, and "Metamodernity" in 2019, which preceded an Audiotree Live session that same year. Their 2020 EP After Fillmore County included collaborations with Ivy Sole and Mick Jenkins on "Central Time". In 2022 Vansire issued The Modern Western World, their third LP, while maintaining a presence on the independent music scene through touring and remix work. The band remains active, with the latest single "Years Roll By" released in March 2024, continuing their contribution to the dream pop and bedroom pop genres.
