Born in Springfield, Missouri, Honestav got his start as an online video creator known for his funny online videos and diaristic acoustic songs. Since emerging on the scene in the early 2020s, he has amassed a cache of songs that move through genres like hip-hop and acoustic pop but lend themselves to humour or a candid sensibility, such as “Stuck Sorry,” “They Don’t Make Pills for a Heartache,” “The Grass Needs Mowed," and 2024's “I’d Rather Overdose,” a raw track written about his father's fatal overdose that ended up going viral and charting on Billboard’s weekly TikTok 50. Also in 2024, he bagged a song on the US Top 40 Radio chart with "Hurts to Fall in Love."
