Rhael Lima de Oliveira (February 15, 1992) is a Brazilian singer and drag queen from the neighborhood of Santos in São Paulo. Identifying as gender-fluid from a very young age, they were often bullied and found solace in the vibrant Brazilian funk, inspired by local artists like Valesca Popozuda and Tati Quebra-Barraco. In 2014, they found themselves at odds with their career and office job and decided to start performing as a DJ. In February 2016, Lia Clark released their debut single “Trava Trava,” a relentless funk banger that went viral online and spawned a subsequent tour throughout Brazil. Preceded by the single “Clark Boom” (2016), an EP of the same name saw the light in September of that year, followed by the Christmas single “Ceia (Vem Papá Noel).” Subsequent singles “Chifrudo,” “TOME CUrtindo” featuring fellow drag queen Pabllo Vittar, and “Boquetáxi,” which was subject to censorship due to its explicit lyrics, only increased Lia Clark’s popularity, who began working on their studio debut in late 2017. After fulfilling her dream of collaborating with Tati Quebra-Barraco on the track “Berro,” Lia Clark released “Tipo de Garota” (2018), the first single from their upcoming first album. Following the release of a second single titled “Bumbum no Ar,” a politically charged song against Jair Bolsonaro’s government featuring singer Wanessa Camargo, their highly anticipated first full-length É da Pista arrived in September 2018. Follow-up singles “Tu Aguenta” (2019) with Dj Thai, “Taca Raba” (2019) with PANKADON, and “Terremoto” (2019) with Gloria Groove proved just as successful, paving the way for Lia Clark’s 2021 single “Sentadinha Macia,” which climbed to Number 6 on the Brazilian charts.
