Uzee the Bovvaking is a Hip Hop Artist from West Africa, Nigeria. Though, originally from Nikki, Benin Republic, My Great Grandfather traveled and settled in the mid-western side of Nigeria, Kwara State, where my tribe ‘ Ilesha Baruba’ still is. I'm ½ member of the Producer/Emcee Duo ‘Jazz and Vodka’ with French Producer, Grolok Panicrum. Born in Kaduna, Zaria, Nigeria, to a Professor and an Entrepreneur, on the 15th of March 1990. I moved with my mother to Ibadan, a city in the South-Western region of Nigeria, in 1991, where I was raised.
I was introduced to Hip-Hop by my elder brothers in the mid-’90s, and my love for the art form only grew stronger over the years. My influences range from Gangster, Mobb Deep, UGK, Ghetto Boys, Outkast, Devin The Dude, Wutang, Dead Prez, Bonethugs, Smif & Wesson, 8ball and Mjg, Blackstar, Little Brother, Murs, Dilated Peoples, The Roots, Common, Planet Asia, Roc Marciano, KA, Griselda. My style leans more towards BoomBap and Jazz-influenced HipHop, most say, I'm reminiscent of the 90’s Golden Era of HipHop.
I released my first mixtape digitally in 2014 titled ‘The Large Rock Project’ where I rap over Pete Rock and Large Professor instrumentals and went on to release my first collaboration EP with Grolok Panicrum which was titled’ Jazz and Vodka’ the name we later decided to use as a Monika when we release music together. I have released 12 projects to date, 8 of which are solo and the rest collaborative projects. Hip-Hop to me is life.
