God Is Within Her - a women’s devotional podcast

Welcome to the God Is Within Her Podcast. (formerly known as The Beautifully Enough Podcast!) This is a space for you, as an every day Christian woman, to GROW! Grow in your faith, grow a closer relationship with God, and grow your confidence in Christ! Every week, we will dive into the word of God so we fill our minds with God’s truths, to live, not as the world tells us to live, but to live boldly as Godly women who fear the Lord. DON'T PANIC RETURNING LISTENERS!! This is still the same weekly devotional podcast you fell in love with over the past two years. But God has put it on my heart to pivot and run with a new title that truly embodies the kingdom purpose God has placed on my heart: not to focus on our lack or feelings of inadequacies but to mentor and guide Christian women to realize we can grow a fierce and confident faith in Christ! Titus 2:3-7 instructs the female elders to become “teachers of beautiful things”. The message translation tells women to be “models of goodness”. When we are models of these beautiful things, we will begin to teach other women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, and to be set-apart as a model of a life nobly lived. And, of course, there is Psalm 46, where the title of the podcast comes from. Psalm 46 references the city of God, Zion, and his chosen people, the Jews. The psalmist is writing this song as a beautiful reminder that God is their refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, do not fear. God is within the city, so the city will not fall. But it is also a promise for us, as women of God. Because of Jesus, God is within us every single day, through the Holy Spirit. And if God is for us, who can be against us? God is within her, she will not fall. And that is my prayer over you as you join me in this podcast, that you become a woman who is a model of the beautiful things of the Lord as you grow in your faith and embrace the promise that God is within you.It is time we start the word of God to conquer our fears and doubts that we aren’t enough or we can’t hear God’s voice, and transform into empowered women of God who can overcome any obstacle all in the name of Jesus! If you have been going through the motions of your faith and you’re ready for a mentor to guide you on your daily walk with God, you are in the right place! Is Your Faith Built on What You Believe? Or What You Can See Only?
Hey friends! On today's episode, I challenge you and your faith. We dive into what the word faith really means. And I want you to become aware of any points in your faith where you are not led by your hope in the unseen (=God) but you're easily influenced by what you can see. Your circumstance. Your situation. Is your faith strong when life around you is going great? And does your faith waiver when all you see is struggle and hardship? Remember, faith is hope in what we do NOT see. Our faith should not be influenced by what we can see around us. That's not true faith at all. Support the show

Feeling Unqualified Part 2
Hey friends! If you are a listener from the very first episode, you would know that episode 1 of this podcast is titled "Feeling Unqualified". And it's an episode were I share my vulnerability and how, when I started this podcast, I didn't feel qualified to do it. I didn't feel like I had the knowledge. I didn't feel like I was a teacher of the word. I felt like there were so many others more qualified to do this than me. But, I wanted to be obedient to what God told me to do. So I did it anyway. Here we are. Almost 3 years later, 1.5 million downloads later...you would think I would be over the fear of feeling unqualified. And you would be wrong.  Recently, I received a message in my inbox of someone asking me why only 3 years of really getting serious about studying my Bible made me qualified to teach. And this message really made me question myself all over again. And I thought about it long a hard and here is what I realized. It's not the amount of years you've been a Christian that makes you qualified to share God's Good News. It's God's grace that He gives freely once you declare Jesus as your Lord and Savior that qualifies you! God qualifies you! And I want to bring encouragement to anyone who is struggling with feeling like "who am I to share about Jesus?" You are a qualified, beloved daughter of the King, sis. That's all the qualification you need!Support the show

Not To Us But To Your Name Be The Glory, God
Hey friends! On today's episode, I give you a reminder that our lives as Christians are to serve and honor God, not ourselves. It is very easy to get caught up into the "me me me" cycle. We can slip into a faith that isn't so much based on God being sovereign and holy, but one where God is simply here to serve me and make my life easier. But there are two things wrong with that ideology: 1) We are never promise an easy and struggle free life as believers.2) God isn't here to serve us. We are here to serve Him. So join me as we self-reflect on our faith and let's find those areas in our faith where, perhaps, we are a little selfish and need to fix our eyes back on serving Jesus instead of ourselves. Support the show

Clean vs. Unclean Foods: Do Those Laws Still Apply Today?
Hey friends! Today we are in Leviticus 11 and we discuss the Levitical Laws of clean and unclean foods. Do we still need to follow those laws today? And how did Jesus dying on the cross somehow make "unclean" foods clean? Man, what the heck does clean and unclean even mean?! ASK VAL: I Feel Like I Am Failing God When I Struggle With Depression
Hey friends! On today's episode, we go to 1 Kings 18 and 19 and study the prophet Elijah (one of my faves!) as we tackle this lie that we are fed by the enemy: that somehow struggling with depression and mental health means we have no faith and we are letting God down. Have you ever thought that to yourself? If you have, this episode is for you. I Want To Live For Jesus But It's Hard & I Don't Feel Like I Am Doing It Right
Hey friends! On today's episode we will be in Ephesians 4: 17-24 as we tackle our inner emotions that are trying to tell us we are doing something wrong when following Jesus is hard. Have you ever felt that way before? You deep down have a yearning for following Jesus more closely, but whenever you make steps towards Him, you feel opposition. You battle voices in your head telling you that you're not doing it right and if you were doing it right, it would be easier. You would understand the Bible better if you were doing it right. Etc. etc. This episode is to help you see past those lies. We aren't promised smooth and easy lives as Christians. But what we are promised is hope, peace and eternal life in heaven. Hey friends! Do You Have Anything In Your Life That You Value More Than Jesus?
Hey friends! On today's episode, we are going to be in Matthew 26:14-16 -- when Judas goes to the high priests and is willing to take just 30 pieces of silver as payment to turn over Jesus. Anyone else ready 30 pieces of silver and think, "Uh. Is that it?! That is all Judas was willing to take to give Jesus over and betray Him?"But then it got me thinking...what is my version of 30 pieces of silver? What in my life do I value more than Jesus? What do I prioritize over Jesus? What makes Jesus second in my life? Oh the conviction in this episode. Hey friends! Today is the LAST Throwback Thursday of the summer! Yes, kids are back in school and I will be able to get back on a regular routine of Monday and Truth Bomb Thursday Episodes! But on today's episode, we throwback to an episode I did where I describe the difference between being just a believer in Christ and are to imitator of Christ. We aren't just supposed to have faith. We are supposed to walk out our faith as well. We are not supposed to sit idlily by and never show people we are Christians. Words are one thing. What do your ACTIONS say about your faith? Why We Should Forgive
Hey friends! On today's episode we tackle the topic on forgiveness again. This time we are in Matthew 19. Jesus gives us a parable about a master and a servant. How the servant owes a huge debt and how the master shows huge grace and compassion to forgive the debt. But then the servant goes and is unforgiving of a friend's debt to him. -- This parable is an example of our huge debt we cannot pay back to God due to our sins. And yet His mercy is just lavished on us and our slates are wiped clean through Jesus Christ. And yet we don't hesitate to hold a grudge against another who has hurt us. Yes, the hurt was real. Yes, they don't have to be in your life. But this parable will put in to perspective why Jesus commands us to forgive one another, because we are forgive by God for our sins.Would you like to have access to even more in-depth and exclusive Jesus-based content? Hey friends!  On today's episode we are in Philippians 4, where the Apostle Paul gives us the most popular verse over anxiety. Your probably have heard it: DO NOT BE ANXIOUS. Thanks Paul. TBT: Do You Have Bad Habits That Are Not Letting Your Faith Grow?
Hey friends! On today's THROWBACK THURSDAY episode, I help you so some self-reflection of your habits: the good and the bad ones. Sometimes habits are so sneaky and silent, we don't even realize how detrimental they are to our faith! Our bad habits can be so common place, even to the point where we just think "that's how we are" or "that is just who I am!" But is it really? Is it really how God created you? Perhaps there are some bad habits you have been in agreement with for far too long and they are holding you back from really transforming and maturing in your faith. We allow fear to hinder and paralyze us. But, in reality, we know we aren't supposed to fear right? As Christian women, we are called to sometimes walk into that fear and to not be afraid because God had already laid the path in front of us! TBT: Taking Offense - How To Live Unoffended
Hey friends! On today's episode we THROWBACK to when the podcast was called The Beautifully Enough Podcast. We cover this word offense. It's so easy to be offended in today's world. There is always someone disagreeing with us, telling us that we are wrong, trying to start a comment war. Social media doesn't help this issue, does it? And yet, what does the Bible say about taking offense? I find too often, that we are ok with just living offended. Everything offends us and we feel it necessary to constantly try to convince others they are wrong. But in your attempt to correct, are you sinning in other areas like pride, arrogance, unkindness, lacking compassion? TBT: Stop Comparing Yourself - Being Content Right Where God Has You
Hey friends! In today's THROWBACK THURSDAY episode, I pull one from when the podcast was titled The Beautifully Enough Podcast. We go back to the story of Rachel and Leah and how they both were married to Jacob. And in the middle of their story, we find some sister rivalry going on. Both pine for Jacob's affection but Jacob truly only has eyes for one. This leads to major comparison and jealousy. Do you struggle with those things too? Do you constantly compare yourself to people on social media or TV? Well, perhaps it's because you've made an idol out of them. Time to refocus and fix our eyes on the One and Only Heavenly Father. TBT: How To Be Faithful Even With The Littlest Of Things
Hey friends! Today is THROWBACK THURSDAY!  And you are listening to an episode I did back when the podcast was originally titled "The Beautifully Enough Podcast". The original title of this episode was "being faithful in the little things". And what I meant by that was: we know to bring our big things to God, right? We know to bring our "mountains" and  "goliaths" to God. But what about the small stuff? Do you ever feel like the small stuff is too small for God to handle? Like you should be strong enough to handle the small stuff on your own, right? But see, God is not that kind of god. He is a God that wants ALL of you. ALL of your struggles: big and small! So be faithful to give Him even the smallest of struggles. He is happy to help guide you through those, too. Do What It Says - Listening To The Word AND Doing It
Hey friends! On today's episode we expand on James 1:22 where it says, "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." And I won't lie, I used to not like this verse a lot. Why? Because it calls you out! It would call me out! It would remind me of the things in my life that I knew I was doing that brought God sorrow and was against His word...and yet I was still choosing to do them anyway.  So that is what we are going to talk about today: what is our lives are we still allowing that we believe are ok, but deep down we know they go against His word. TBT: Have You Becoming Addicted to the Dark?
Hey friends! In today's summer Throwback Thursday episode, we go all the way back to an episode I did right at the start of covid and the pandemic. Anxiety was high. Negative news was all we heard. Fear was high. And I felt God telling me to remind everyone where our eyes should be fixed. Our eyes had become so fixed on all of the darkness and death around us, no wonder we were struggling with anxiety, fear and worry! But scripture tells us to fix our eyes on HEAVEN. To fix our eye on what is EXCELLENT and PRAISEWORTHY. So, while we might not be quarantined any longer, we might still have a bad habit of being hyperfocused on the negative and bad around us. And I am here to help you break that habit. Is Your Faith About Relationship or Rules?
Hey friends! In today's episode we will be in Matthew 12:1-14 where the Pharisees try to trap Jesus and His disciples by calling them out for "working" on the Sabbath. Jesus gives them a response of "I desire mercy not sacrifice." So...what does that mean? It means that Jesus desires your heart over the rules you followed. The Pharisees are a prime example of people who, outwardly, followed the "rules" and did what wad right. And yet in their hearts, they sinned. They judged unrighteously. They were prideful. They were self-seeking.  And they totally missed the greatness and power right in front of them that was Jesus Christ! Jesus wants your heart. And when He genuinely has it from you, you naturally will do works and produce good fruit. But it all comes from a relationship with Jesus. What is your faith more like: a relationship? Or one that is just a set of rules?Check out my website for e-workbooks, courses, apparel,  and info on God Is Within Her Mentoring Community and 1-on-1 Faith + Mindset coaching for women with me!Work with me // www.valreynolds.comConnect with me // @val_reynoldsCollab with me // info@valreynolds.comSupport the show

How Is Your Soil? - Could Your Choices Be The Reason Your Faith Isn't Growing?
Hey friends! Today we are in Matthew 13:1-9 where Jesus tells us the parable of the sower. In this parable, we describes a farmer who scatters his seeds and they fall on for different types of soil. Some of the seeds grow. Some don't. And some are extremely fruitful! The seeds represent hearing the Good News and the plants that grow (or don't grow) represent our faith! The question is, how is your faith plant growing? Or has it stalled out? Is it being choked out? TBT: Are You A Control Freak? How To Release That Control and Give It to God
Hey friends! Welcome to our Throwback Thursday Episode this week! Today, you are going to hear Episode 39: "It's Time To Release Your Control, My Fellow Control Feak". (And you'll hear the old podcast title: The Beautifully Enough Podcast!) Let's chat about how our desire to control everything in our life is rooted in our fear and, ultimately, our distrust that God is good. Because it's one thing to say that you believe God is good all the time. But it speaks a totally different heart posture when we don't have the actions that show we actually fully trust Him and His promises.  Check out my website for e-workbooks, courses, apparel,  and info on God Is Within Her Mentoring Community and 1-on-1 Faith + Mindset coaching for women with me!Work with me // www.valreynolds.comConnect with me // @val_reynoldsCollab with me // info@valreynolds.comSupport the show

How To Come To Jesus When You Are Weary & Need Rest
Hey friends! On today's episode, we are in Matthew 11:28-30. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”You know this passage. It's a go-to when we are feeling sorrowful and heartbroken. And yet, I think we take it for granted. I don't think we truly understand the action required in this passage. Even I am guilty of reading this passage and just skimming the surface of the power behind it. We read this for quick comfort when it is so much more than that! This is not just a quick-fix passage or a bandaid to help us heal. This is a powerful, actionable, message on how we can have comfort always! All the time! Because of Jesus!
