Field Talk - Against Urban Issues

FIELD TALK (formally called: Dr. Bryant Speaks.com) is a podcast conversation hosted by Aaron Bryant – a military veteran, published author and master life coach In every episode, Dr. Bryant provides a nonjudgmental platform to converse, share ideas, and discuss topics like finances, employment, and resources. His goal is to provide professionals, young adults, families and veterans with insightful conversations and to present himself as a new friend so that no person will feel that they do not have a “battle buddy”. “As a traumatic disabled veteran, I experienced a path, most would rather avoid. I learned to overcome, and I have literally taken multiple falls. The goal of my podcast is to allow each person listening to the show to feel as if someone hears them, because they were able to learn a bit more about how blessed we all are.” – Dr. Bryant

Veterans Managing Death
Veterans are no different than any other person when dealing with the death of a friend, fellow soldier or relative. You would think the reality of witnessing someone being killed or watching your ‘battle buddy’ die from injuries would make things easier moving forward. Not true. The life of losing someone is always hard and traumatic and it requires more than a thick skin to move on. Learning techniques to manage the emotion is essential. Dr. Bryant Speaks about what he does to get by every day and how he manages the loss of his Ranger buddy…his aunt…his grandmother…his cousin…and his younger brother. Each situation is a little different and he hopes it will allow you to prepare yourself.

Vanessa Guillen & Sexual Harassment_Ep 1 of 3
I AM VANESSA GUILLEN Specialist Guillen was reported missing from Fort Hood on April 22, 2020. Her case inspired protests and caught the attention of the president, and led the Army to discipline more than a dozen officials. A bill named “#IAmVanessaGuillen” after a hashtag that encouraged military members to talk about their own sexual harassment and sexual assault experiences, was also introduced, but is still in its early stages. If passed, it would allow for the creation of a third-party agency to which active-duty service members could report allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault. https://www.nytimes.com/article/vanessa-guillen-fort-hood.html https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/116/hr8270 https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/8270?s=1&r=35 https://www.facebook.com/findvanessaguillen/posts/the-i-am-vanessa-guillen-bill-what-is-it-swipe-share-to-get-informed-the-legisla/151477056557499/ www.vetslegislativevoice.org

The Brandon Act (Episode 2 of 2)
The Brandon Act The Brandon Act will allow the men and women who serve in the United States of America’s Armed Forces to get help without retaliation whatsoever from anyone in their commands and will hold people accountable for their actions, if it is deemed necessary. It will allow them to get counseling for any issues they may have from bullying to sexual/mental/ domestic abuse among many other issues. With “The Brandon Act” in place, we hope to completely eliminate suicides in the Armed Forces. Brandon Caserta was one of 325 active duty service members who died by suicide in 2018, and one of 68 sailors, according to military data. Less than half, or 44.6%, of troops who died by suicide that year had a documented behavioral health diagnosis, according to a report the Pentagon released in April. Brandon Caserta died by suicide on June 25, 2018 at the age of 21.  The command investigation into his death found that “belligerence, vulgarity and brash leadership” contributed to Caserta’s decision to end his own life. The goal of the Brandon Act is to create a pathway for service members to seek mental health evaluations in confidence, without disclosing to their command. “We may not be able to eliminate suicide among military soldiers (both active and non-active), but we can definitely lower the number by eliminating the parasites that prey on other soldiers; causing them.” - Dr Aaron Bryant https://www.facebook.com/thebrandonact/ www.militarycorruption.com/brandon-caserta https://militaryjusticeforall.com/2018/06/25/brandon-caserta-u-s-navy-june-25-2018/ http://vetslegislativevoice.org/ https://www.stripes.com/news/us/brandon-act-fighting-suicide-in-the-military-draws-more-support-in-congress-1.640053 https://www.stripes.com/news/us/lawmaker-introduces-brandon-act-to-improve-troops-access-to-mental-health-care-1.635251
