Join me and my class for PART THREE of "The Great Debate: Creationism vs. Evolution" Biology. My dream since 2009 has finally come true! Well, sort of! I was able to write, develop, and teach the first ever NCAA-approved "Origin of Life" course at LCA, Liberty Christian Academy. The students defended the Biblical position while I "attacked" their beliefs and position using some common secular arguments. Of course, my goal was to help them establish a foundation based on reason and logic rather than just reciting Bible verses (which should be enough anyways!) Another focus is to emphasize the secularists often do not even acknowledge the Bible as having any authority; therefore, we tried to stick mostly to 'scientific arguments', aside from my occasional intentional attacks to attempt throwing them off their game!The students defend the evidence for the Biblical position that macroevolution (Darwinian evolution) is NOT a feasible position, but microevolution is something that ALL scientists agree does occur! Why did I leave public education? A few questions first....Are you content with that job you have been working for so long? Do you feel like it's the same grind that just won't end? Do you have fulfillment in what you're doing? After only FOUR years of teaching, I was ready to just quit. I was so bored and unfulfilled despite climbing near the pinnacles of attaining success in a short time. After teaching public school for almost 17 years, I made the decision back in 2021 to trust God and enter into full-time Christian education. Of course, I enjoyed working in the public school as I began learning in these institutions back in 1987! I made many friendships throughout my educational career, but the calling God placed in my life beginning around 2009 completely revolutionized the way I teach science and have set professional goals. Although we chose not to bring a guest this week, Dr. B is not flying completely solo!
