I recently had a healing crisis in which both my Kidney, Gallbladder and Liver all started releasing stones!  I had been on the Carnivore Diet for two weeks and vlogged the experience on youtube. It's July 23rd in Katie's Seventh Grade Prayer Journal! This episode, I'm recording LIVE from a Waffle House in Nashville!  Why? Because I am super busy, picking up my Uber rental car and found myself having to WAIT for a rental car to be brought to the Uber rental location!  I highlight this because life is going to have busy seasons and busy days-but as we make it a point each day to connect with the Father, Father God through his word, reading the Bible and through prayer and worship, we will find ourselves living with a higher average rate of JOY!!!  Also, in today's journal entry, 13 yo Katie shares how much she loves the summer desert monsoon rains!!!  The journal has a picture of the monsoon in New Mexico! What is child abuse and what to do when you see it?From July 20th in Katie’s Seventh Grade Prayer Journal!In today’s reading, Katie is both solemn and thankful. Solemn because neighbors reveal they are being abused. Katie is able to get them on the path to help by calling a government office for children. Also, Katie has been praying for God to show her why she’s in NEw MExico when it appears nothing of value has happened there until now… God shows that her time has not been wasted. And it is a very big deal-the Apostle Paul who wrote most of the New Testament which is for the followers of Jesus said about covetousness to not do it, don't even talk about it, don't even hang out with those who do!  So what do we do instead? What do you do when two sisters who are also neighbors start getting mean and try to trick you?What do you do when you want a beach house vacation but have no control over making that happen?Thirteen year-old Katie decided to pray about these things! Not perfectly, but she did!With the neighbor girls, not tolerating lies and tricks was a move toward healthy relationships for Katie.  No relationship can be trustworthy with lies and tricking.  Then, Katie journals the details of her family's plans to go to a beach house for a vacation together. This was and still is one of my favorite ideas for a vacation! And again, 13-yo Katie takes the desire to the Lord. What relationship issues do you need wisdom about?What dream-vacation are you hoping for?One of five truths from this prayer journaling book is that the season you are in won't last!  Holding onto that truth gives us great perspective. It's easy to think the hard season or the good season you are in will always be that way.  But that's not how it works. Do you LOVE the shows about making home beautiful?  I do!!!  Fixer Upper with Joanna Gaines, Rehab Addict with Nicole Curtis, and Grand Designs with Kevin McCloud are some of my all-time favorite shows!  Why? Because they take what is ugly or absent and through plans and grit, (and money!) they make something BEAUTIFUL- a space where anyone would want to live!What about you? Do you love making a space beautiful, organized, a space anyone would want to live?On today's podcast, 13 year-old prayer journaler Katie documents how she made her room organized and clean! and you can tell it made her so happy!Here are a few steps for you to prayer journal and make your space beautiful, too!Start with your prayer journal or foam poster board and write or print out what your dream room would look like!Then, get three crates or boxes and label them:1. Trash2. Give3. KeepHow much closet space and drawer space do you have?First, put away only the things you love, that fit and make you feel beautiful and encouraged!Second, don't over-stuff your drawers or closet.  Instead, get creative with storing things. Prompts: -Prayer journaling for your church-home, -The families you babysit for -Looking for Godly guys friends!July 12th in Katie's Seventh Grade Prayer Journal, Katie's family back in San Diego is considering leaving her church where her youth group is. Then Katie thanks God for the families she babysits for! (One of them is about to have another baby!) Lastly, Katie thanks God for the youth group worker named Dave.  Katie is able to recognize that Dave has healthy attributes and nothing inappropriate about him.What are Godly attributes in a male youth group worker?He loves the word, is self-controlled, has other male friends that help him be accountable and honor the females and males in his life, if he is over 18 or out of school, he can support himself and/or is working towards financial independence and has a plan for becoming independently financially secure! All this and truth #3 "God's Love Softens Hearts!" When the answer to your frustration is seeing the result of someone's wrong choices, you realize you are being sparred.  Watch here instead: https://youtu.be/WbmCyOUIgc4I didn't know it at the time, but the reason a peer 8th grader was getting moved up to the high school youth group with my older BFF, Rachel Fox was because that peer 8th grader was actually pregnant at age 13.Yesterday, July 9th in Katie's 7th Grade Prayer Journal, I was crying out to God, feeling that the peer's move to the high school youth group  which would mean HER being present with MY older BFF was completely UNJUST. What I didn't know is the cost of her choices and that being with older kids was a mercy to her on behalf of the junior high and high school youth group leaders.Today's podcast isn't about teen pregnancy but I will say that in our home, we've had a rule since our sons were very young that they could not even date until they could support a wife. We also explained why and praise God our sons have honored that rule. Celebacy/abstinence is what God says are best until marriage.
