Singer, songwriter and artist Naomi Scott is back with brand new music. Widely known for her work in film; music and songwriting have always been central to her identity. The sensual, bass-led pulse of Rhythm-the first in a series of new songs to be released this year-introduces this next era for the songwriter, the product of patience, self-discovery and years of intentional craft. Rhythm features Johnny Yukon and is produced by Lido, with a video shot and directed by Dev Hynes. Singing from a young age at her parents’ East London church and first discovered at 14, Scott’s journey into music began early, with formative sessions in partnership with pop powerhouse Xenomania and two EPs released while still in her teens. She also wrote three songs, alongside producer Idarose, for Smile 2: The Skye Riley EP. As one passion gave way to another and her primary focus turned towards a successful career in film, she has continued to explore her own artistic voice alongside a quiet determination to release new music. These new songwriting sessions saw Scott bring the process back to just herself, writing songs at the piano, allowing her own sound to crystallize. Deeply influenced by gospel, ’80s pop, and the alt-pop heroes of her youth, the result is an artistically rich, world-building body of work that is smart, considered and intoxicating. This is an artist in her own right, delivering her most personal and confident work to date.
