Considered one of the best representatives of gypsy jazz, Stochelo Rosenberg is an undisputed reference in the world of guitar. Born in the Netherlands, from the Sinti community of Holland, he formed with his cousins Nous’che (guitar) and Nonnie (double bass) a trio that would mark the revival of gypsy jazz at the turn of the 90s, with the album "Seresta". The international audience of the Rosenberg Trio reached its peak in 1993 on the stage of Carnegie Hall in New York in the company of violinist Stéphane Grappelli, invited the following year on the album "Caravan". Stochelo collaborates with figures as diverse as harmonica player Toots Thielemans, pianist Louis Van Dijk, as well as guitarists Romane (“Élégance”, in 2000, followed by “Double Jeu”, in 2004), Biréli Lagrène (Gypsy Project in 2002, for the album “Djangologists”, in 2010) and Tommy Emmanuel (“Kings of Strings”, 2012). In 2017, Stochelo composed the soundtrack for the film “Django”, directed by Étienne Comar. In 2023 and 2024, he will be a guest of Thomas Dutronc, alongside Rocky Gresset, for a tour of the biggest festivals. Cultivating a virtuoso but never forced technique, gifted with a rare elegance and a very personal vibrato put to the service of a refined melodic sense (some of his themes, such as For Sephora or Double Jeu, have become "hits" of gypsy music), Stochelo Rosenberg is unanimously acclaimed by specialists and the general public alike.
