Born in Palermo in 1959, he began his concert career in 1979 and has over 2,000 concerts in the Italian and international as well as participation in radio and television broadcasts
He participated in the "Sicilia Jazz Giovani" competition, in the summer of '82, in which he received the "Pignatelli" award for composition; in the same period he was part of an orchestra formed by the third network RAI and conducted by Bruno Tommaso.
In September of '84 it was proclaimed by an international jury winner of the competition "The New Musicians" attached to the Messina jazz Meeting and in that capacity participated in the "Festival of Jazz Pianist" held in Kaliz, Poland, in December 1984.
In February 1992 he released his first CD "Mediterranea Suite" in trio with Paolino Dalla Porta on double bass and Paolo Mappa on drums and published by Splasch Records.
As part of the "TOP JAZZ 1992", organized by the specialized magazine Musica Jazz, he ranked at the 4th place in the category "Best New Talent".
In the last 20 years he has broadened his musical horizons contributing to the birth of several projects in the field of gospel music (Palermo Spiritual Ensemble), ethnic (Folkage and Sun)
With the SUN that he founded in 1995 together with Alessandro Palacino (wind) and Dario Sulis (percussion and voice) he works both in the field of ethnic music (reworking of the repertoire of the Sicilian folk tradition) and in the field of cultured music.
Among the main special projects stands out the project of rereading the sonatas for harpsichord by Alessandro Scarlatti commissioned by the Fondazione Teatro Massimo in Palermo culminated in the concert of November 2001, as part of the Festival Scarlatti, and in the realization of the Scarlatti Rendering CD. published by Compagnia Nuove Indie. which received considerable acclaim from music critics.
It is also worth mentioning the project Sacred Voices realized the collaboration with the polyphonic choir of Balzo in which Sun has reworked some Gregorian Chants combining them with the songs of the popular tradition of Good Friday of Bisacquino and a piece taken from a mass brazilian by Marlui Miranda.
In 2017 he released his new CD containing some of his solo piano compositions entitled "Pianofor(t)ever".
Since the beginning of his artistic activity he has dedicated himself to composition both individually and in collaboration with other musicians, boasting a repertoire of over 200 pieces, some of which for theatrical and dance performances and videos.
He has recorded many recordings both in his own name and with the groups he founded as well as participations in numerous compilations.
In the musical field he collaborated with : Paolo Fresu, Flavio Boltro, Franco Cerri, Enrico Rava, Ray Mantilla, Irio de Paula, Artie Traum, Glen Velez, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Paolino Dalla Porta, Enzo Randisi, Gianni Cavallaro, Claudio Lo Cascio, Gianni Gebbia, Cinzia Spata, Rim Banna, Nick the Nightflight, Sara Jane Morris, Bill Moring, Elliot Zigmund.
In the theater field he has collaborated with: Paride Benassai, Giuseppe Moschella, Emanuela Mulè, Giacomo Cviletti, Rory Quattrocchi, Sandro Dieli, Filippo Luna, Barbara Tabita, Claudio Gioè, Pino Caruso, Massimo Wertmuller, Franco Scaldati, Vincenzo Ferrera, Giorgio Li Bassi, Toni Sperandeo, Paolo Briguglia, Massimo Geraci, Alessandro Haber, Salvo Piparo, Gigi Borruso.
Recently one of his songs has been included in the scene music of the show Filo Filò by Marco Paolini.
Since 1984 he has been teaching subjects in the field of jazz music such as jazz piano, jazz harmony and improvisation technique, ensemble music, first at the Center Django Reinhardt, then at the association Music Together and, since 1996, at the Association/ Foundation The Brass Group.
