Azúcar Negra is a Cuban salsa and timba band from Santiago de Cuba. Formed in 1997, the ensemble was founded by the musical director Leonel Limonta and included musicians from the group Bamboleo. The band released its debut studio album, Andar Andando, in 2001. Following the record's release, the lead singer Haila Mompié departed the group to pursue a solo career and was succeeded by Ailyn Dallera. Their recording history featured the studio albums Sin mirar atrás (2004), Toque natural (2006) and Exceso de equipaje (2008). During its career, the ensemble has performed on tours in Europe and gave concerts at venues in New York City including the Lincoln Center and the Copacabana. The group subsequently issued the studio albums ... se acabó el pescao (2012), A bailar con tacones (2013) and Tonada Pal Bailador (2017).
