Grüvis Malt was an American six-piece band founded in Providence, Rhode Island, in March 1995 by high school students including Gavin Castleton on keyboards and Brendan Bell on vocals and percussion. Their early experiments led to the release of their first EP, Breakfast All Day, in 1996. Grüvis Malt released seven full-length albums, starting with Cromagnetic in April 1998 and concluding with Maximum Unicorn in November 2005. Their album Sound Soldiers, released in 1999, was often considered their musical "starting point." The band signed with Lakeshore Records for the release of ...With the Spirit of a Traffic Jam... but parted ways due to contractual disputes. Grüvis Malt stopped touring in 2005 to pursue solo projects.
