The Republic of Desire was a Finnish death and industrial metal band formed in 1997 in Lappeenranta by Kalle Lindberg and guitarist Lasse Alander. The group initially released the demo GrooveCore in 1998, followed by EPs Biopreparat (1999) and Songs of Betrayal (2001). Their debut album, 2.0 Beta, was self-financed and released in 2002. Their subsequent EP Kvber (2005) attracted the attention of Ammonite Industries, leading to a record deal. With notable lineup changes, including the addition of guitarist Arto Eskola, the band released their second album, REALpolitik, in 2007. Their final release was the album Tower (2011), after which The Republic of Desire disbanded.
