Ska Cubano, a British band formed in 2001, blended ska and Cuban music with elements of cumbia and calypso. The group was initiated by investment manager Peter A. Scott, who envisioned an alternative history where Cuban ska had emerged. In 2001, Scott traveled to Santiago de Cuba with Top Cats singer Natty Bo (Nathan Lerner) to rehearse and record the band's debut album over two years, primarily with local musicians including Beny Billy (Juan Manuel Villy Carbonell). The group later transitioned to a London-based lineup. Their first album, Ska Cubano, was released in 2003, followed by ¡Ay Caramba! in 2006. Ska Cubano performed at major festivals worldwide, including Glastonbury and WOMAD, and toured in 30 countries. The band's subsequent album, Mambo Ska, was released in 2010. In 2014, the Ska Cubano project was suspended.
