Black 'N Blue, an American glam metal band from Portland, Oregon, was formed in November 1981 by high school friends Jamie St. James and Tommy Thayer. Their breakthrough came in 1982 when their demo of "Chains Around Heaven" was included on Brian Slagel's compilation album Metal Massacre. This exposure led to a move to Los Angeles, where they quickly gained traction in the local club scene. In 1984, Black 'N Blue released their self-titled debut album under Geffen Records, featuring the moderate hit "Hold On to 18". The band's subsequent albums included Without Love (1985), which featured the radio success "Miss Mystery", and Nasty Nasty (1986) and In Heat (1988). Despite their early successes, Black 'N Blue disbanded in 1989. The band reunited briefly for a live performance in 1997 and released several compilations and albums, including Hell Yeah! in 2011.
