Placebo, a Belgian jazz/fusion band, was formed in 1969 by Marc Moulin. The group featured various members including Nick Fissette on trumpet, Alex Scorier and Johnny Dover on saxophone, Richard Rousselet on trumpet, Nicolas Kletchkovsky and Yvan de Souter on bass, Freddy Rottier on drums, Philip Catherine and Francis Weyer on guitar. Placebo quickly established themselves in the Belgian music scene, blending jazz with elements of rock and fusion to create a unique sound. The band released their debut album Ball of Eyes in 1971, followed by 1973, and Placebo in 1974. Their final concerts took place in 1976, marking the end of their active career. In 2019, a live album titled Live 1971 was released, showcasing their earlier performances. Despite their relatively short lifespan as a performing group, Placebo left a lasting impact on the Belgian jazz scene. Their fusion of jazz and rock elements remains a notable contribution to the genre, with their albums still celebrated for their innovative sound and compositional depth.
