Lionel Suarez, born 15 January 1977 in Rodez, Aveyron, is a French accordionist, drummer and composer who began studying accordion, piano and solfège under François Aceti at eight and performed publicly by fifteen. After graduating from the Conservatoire de Marseille with a Premier prix and a gold medal, he entered the Toulouse jazz circuit, collaborating with JeHaN and later forming the duo Minvielle + Suarez with André Minvielle, which toured extensively from 2006. His debut album Tandem (2011) with André Minvielle received critical acclaim, followed by Cocanha ! (2013) and Quarteto Gardel (2018), the latter produced by Bretelles. In 2026 he partenered with trumpeter Airelle Besson for the single "Sans laisser d'adresse" and the album Blossom, while continuing to perform with artists such as Vincent Ségal and Roberto Alagna.
