Biography

Accordionist, clarinetist, arranger, and composer Vincent Peirani – born in Nice, France on April 24, 1980 – is an acclaimed musician who has made an impact on the contemporary international jazz scene thanks to his many collaborations and his own eclectic recordings as a leader. At the age of 11, he learned to play the accordion and enrolled at the Conservatoire de Nice a year later, where he also began studying the clarinet. During his time at the school, he won three major awards in clarinet, musical analysis, and music theory. Vincent Peirani won several international awards before winning first prize in classical recording at the Conservatory Of Music And Dance (CNSMD). Relocating to Paris, France, he began to socialize with jazz musicians and, in 2000, shifted his focus away from classical to jazz. However, his style also incorporated elements of world music and other genres. After winning several more awards, he joined the jazz and improvised music department at CNSMD. He then began to compose his own material and performed alongside many of France’s finest jazz, world music, and classical musicians. Signing with the Zig-Zag Territoires label, he released the album Mélosolex (2008) before collaborating with French cellist François Salque on the album Gunung Sebatu (2010). Winner of the Django-Reinhardt Prize and a Victoire du jazz for his 2013 album Thrill Box, he joined forces with saxophonist Émile Parisien on the album Belle Époque (2014). Vincent Peirani formed the jazz fusion group Living Being and released the albums Living Being (2015) and Night Walker (2018). He recorded several acclaimed duet albums including 2016’s Tandem (with pianist Michael Wollny, 2019’s So Quiet (with vocalist Serena Fisseau), and 2020’s Abrazo (with saxophonist Émile Parisien). In 2022,  Vincent Peirani released the album Jokers which featured musical assistance from guitarist Federico Casagrande and drummer Ziv Ravitz.
