Tarnation was an American alternative country band formed in 1992 by Paula Frazer. Initially consisting of Frazer on vocals and guitar, the lineup expanded to include Brandan Kearney on lap steel guitar and Brent Johnson on guitar and vocals. In 1994, they released their debut album I'll Give You Something to Cry About! on Nuf Sed Records. The band later signed with 4AD Records and released Gentle Creatures, which featured reworked songs from their previous album along with new material. Following the departure of several members, Frazer reformed Tarnation with a new lineup including Alex Oropeza on guitar, Bill Cuevas on bass and lap steel guitar, and Joe Byrnes on drums. Jamie Meagan joined on bass in 1996 for the recording sessions of their final album Mirador, released in 1997. After the release of Mirador, Tarnation disbanded. Frazer has continued touring and recording with the name Paula Frazer and Tarnation, releasing Now It's Time (2007) and What Is and Was (2017).
