Francis John Roy Grier, born on July 29, 1955 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, is an English composer and psychoanalyst. His musical career began as a chorister at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, followed by roles as the first music scholar at Eton College and organ scholar at King's College, Cambridge. In 1981, Grier joined Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, as organist and tutor in Music. He notably composed for Queen Elizabeth II's birthday in 1996 and contributed to the Choirbook for the Queen for her Diamond Jubilee. Grier won a British Composer Award in 2012 and has had his works recorded by various choirs, including King’s College Cambridge and the choir of the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court.
