The Anachronic Jazz Band is a French jazz group formed in 1976. The band was formed with a wind instrument section of clarinets, saxophones, trumpet, and trombone, alongside a rhythm section featuring piano, banjo, sousaphone, and drums. The group's repertoire is exclusively composed of modern and contemporary jazz standards played in the style of 1920s jazz, which gave the ensemble its name. The original lineup included Daniel Huck, Patrick Artero, Marc Richard, André Villéger, and Claude Gousset. In 1978, the band won the Prix Sidney Bechet from the Académie du jazz, leading to extensive European tours in countries such as France, Germany, and Italy. After disbanding in 1980, the group reformed in 2013 with new members including Jean-François Bonnel. The group's discography includes Anachronic Jazzband (1976), Anachronic Jazzband Volume 2 (1977), Anthropology (2009), and Anachronic Jazzband: Back in Town (2013).
