Silicon Teens, a British new wave virtual band, was created in 1979 by Mute Records founder Daniel Miller. The project featured fictional members with musician Frank Tovey portraying the lead singer Darryl for media appearances. All vocals and instrumentation were provided by Miller under the pseudonym "Larry Least." Their debut single "Memphis Tennessee", a cover of Chuck Berry's song, was released in August 1979, marking their breakthrough moment. The band's only album Music For Parties followed in September 1980, featuring rock and roll standards from the 1950s and 1960s reimagined in an upbeat synthpop style. Notable singles included "Judy In Disguise" and "Just Like Eddie", both of which were top 10 hits on the UK Indie Chart in 1980. Silicon Teens ceased activity after 1980 but continued to be recognized with their music appearing on various compilations and soundtracks.
