Tommie Young, born on January 14, 1949, is an American soul and gospel singer from Dallas, Texas. She began her career performing in local nightclubs before being discovered by producer Bobby Patterson in 1972. Her debut release, featuring instrumental versions of the songs "That's How Strong My Love Is" and "Take Time to Know Her", gained cult status among soul music fans. Tommie Young's follow-up single, "Do You Still Feel the Same Way" (1973), became a hit in the American South and reached number 28 on the national R&B chart. In 1978, her music was featured in the made-for-TV biopic A Woman Called Moses. After marrying, she performed as Tommye Young-West and recorded several gospel albums.
