Blakfish, an English math rock band from Birmingham, formed in 2000 after meeting at school. The group released their debut EP Dirty Import in 2004 and followed it with the four-track myforteistimetravel. In 2007, they recorded the gapless three-track EP Gold, which led to a signing with Big Scary Monsters. Their fourth EP, See You in Another City, was released in 2008 and featured the track "Jeremy Kyle is a Marked Man", which appeared on the computer game Colin McRae: Dirt 2 and received airplay on BBC Radio 1. In 2009, Blakfish released their only album, Champions, produced by Chris Common at Redroom Studios in Seattle. The album was widely praised, receiving a 4/5 rating from Kerrang! and a 9/10 from Rock Sound. Despite this success, the band disbanded mid-tour in 2010 following the departure of guitarist and vocalist Sam Manville.
